Playing tennis is like being a superhero. Why you might ask? Well, here is my thought process. Think about all the good superheroes, Peter Parker, Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne, they didn't go out and save cities and protect the world from evil in street clothes. They became someone different when they went out to fight crime. PP, CK, BW and their personalities outside of being a superhero could never protect the world. They needed to flip the switch, they needed to become someone with an edge, attitude, personality that struck fear into their enemies. Tennis is the same way, I see hundreds of players come and go, some of them with this superhero personality, some of them without it. The players that accomplish goals, the players that win championships, the players that dominate, develop an alter ego on the court, just like superheroes develop an alter ego when going to save the world.
So my question is: Do you want to be Peter Parker, Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne on the tennis court or do you want to be Spiderman, Superman, Batman on the tennis court? What kind of alter ego do you have when you step on the court? Do you want to reach your goals, do you want to win championships, do you want to be the best player you can be? Without an attitude, without an edge, without a personality to strike fear in your opponents, the game can be tough.
I'm challenging every girl in the program to comment on this post. Tell me what kind of tennis player you want to be on the tennis court or what type of tennis player you are on the court. Hold yourself accountable to your post. Become your alter ego when you step between the lines. I'm excited to see and read your response.
